Strategic Hormone Analysis & Testing in Ontario
High-Level Clinical Data. Zero Guesswork. Delivered to Your Door.
When your energy, body, mood, or metabolism feel "off," you don't just need more tests—you need the right clinical strategy.
In my virtual naturopathic practice, we select the specific markers and the most effective testing methods—from local blood draws to specialized at-home kits—to decode your unique physiology. By investigating the interaction between Thyroid function, Insulin signaling, and Sex Hormone metabolism, we use data as a GPS to move past your plateaus and restore your foundation.
Choosing the Right Diagnostic Tool: Blood, Saliva, or Urine?
As a Virtual Naturopathic Doctor, I recommend the sampling method that provides the most actionable data for your specific health concerns and history. We utilize local labs across Ontario and specialized functional kits shipped directly to your door.
1. Serum (Blood) Testing: The Metabolic Baseline
Blood work is the clinical standard for a snapshot in time. It is the most reliable way to assess upstream signals from the brain and the health of your primary metabolic organs.
When we test in Blood: This is our first choice for Thyroid, Insulin/Glucose, and Nutrient status (Iron/B12). We also use blood to get baseline levels of sex hormones like FSH/LH, or progesterone for fertility or Androgens like Testosterone for PCOS screening, acne, and hair loss.
Why it matters: Standard pracititioners often only test TSH; we requisition Free T4, Free T3, and Thyroid Antibodies to see the full metabolic picture. We also look at Fasting Insulin to calculate your HOMA-IR (insulin sensitivity).
How it works: I provide a digital requisition for any LifeLabs or Dynacare location in Ontario.
2. Saliva Testing: The Bioavailable Stress Map
While blood measures "total" hormones, saliva measures the "free" or bioavailable fraction—the hormones that are actually active and available for your tissues to use.
When we test in Saliva: Saliva is the gold standard for mapping the Diurnal Cortisol Rhythm (your 24-hour stress response). Because it allows for non-invasive, multi-point sampling throughout the day, it is essential for investigating "wired but tired" feelings and adrenal resilience.
Why it matters: It reveals the "Cortisol-Progesterone Steal," showing how your stress response might be physically blocking your reproductive hormones from doing their job.
How it works: A specialized kit is shipped to your home; you collect samples and mail them back to the lab.

3. Dried Urine Testing: The Metabolic Deep-Dive
Urine testing (such as the DUTCH test) provides the most comprehensive view of how your body is actually breaking down and detoxifying hormones.
When we test in Urine: This is our go-to for complex cases like Endometriosis, PMDD, or Estrogen Dominance. It shows us "downstream" metabolites—how your liver and gut are clearing estrogen and progesterone.
Why it matters: You can have "normal" blood levels but poor clearance pathways. Seeing these metabolites allows us to use my MSc in Nutritional Sciences to build a protocol that supports your body’s natural detoxification.
How it works: A collection kit is mailed to your door, allowing you to capture a complete 24-hour hormonal picture from home.
A Strategic Roadmap to Hormonal Flow
We don't just test and guess. My evidence-based virtual process ensures your data is translated into a sustainable strategy:
Functional Interpretation: We don't just wait for a lab value to fall outside the "reference range." We look for optimal levels that allow your system to thrive.
Precision Nutrition: Your results inform a personalized protocol designed to support hormone clearance and metabolic health without restrictive dieting.
Nervous System Integration: We address the "Stress-Hormone Axis," ensuring your brain is sending the right signals to your ovaries, thyroid, and adrenals.
